By signing up a Touch or Contact Rugby team you will be making a difference for our selected charity, Demelza, Hospice Care for Children and at the same time giving some of your employees the chance to test their rugby skills against a host of other teams drawn from the corporate world. The standard will be as high as the competing companies can muster.
The aim is to play to a good standard of rugby but most importantly ensure everyone enjoys themselves. No semi or full professional players are allowed to participate in either tournament.
There will be two competitions on the day - full Contact Sevens and Mixed Touch. Being an elite tournament there can only be 24 teams in each competition, so places are strictly limited to a first come, first served basis.
CONTACT SEVENS COMPETITION
The Contact Sevens Competition is played to IRB rules, click here for full details. Each team can have a squad of 12 players. However, if desired, up to 3 of the squad can be sevens specialists, bid for and drawn from a carefully selected pool of young players specially drafted in for the event.
Teams in the Contact Competition will compete for the Trafigura Cup and the winners will gain automatic entry into the inaugural “King of 7s Tournament” to be held in May 2010, where they will compete with the winners from all the other key Corporate Sevens events to determine who really is the King of Corporate 7s. More details about this fantastic new tournament can be found on www.king7s.com.
MIXED TOUCH COMPETITION
The Mixed Touch Competition is open to men and women of all ages and skill sets, click here for full details. This non contact version of the game is one of the fastest growing team sports in the world. As with the Contact Competition, teams can have a squad of up to 12 players. There is no requirement nor provision of any specialist players. There are no rules regarding the ratio between male and female players in the squad, but please remember the playing team of six, must include at all times a minimum of two female players. The teams will compete for the Inaugural Trafigura Shield and Vase.
We’re delighted to have Ian Robertson back on board for the second year running to provide live in-stadium commentary for the semi-finals and finals of the Contact Competition. The outstanding commentary of this seasoned professional will add to the thrill and excitement, as the best of the corporate teams on the day battle it out to lift the prestigious Trafigura Cup and Bowl.
